Home Sellers Guide: Gutters & Roofs
- If you have an old asphalt shingle roof, we don’t advocate replacing it before you sell your home. An old roof will be considered when a buyer decides on what to offer for the home.
- If you have a slate roof, we do recommend that you have a qualified slate roofer com and do whatever repairs are necessary before you market the home. Slate roofs should be inspected and repaired annually.
- Gutters should be cleaned three times a year – at the end of spring and early & late fall. Poor gutter maintenance is one of the main reasons why basements leak and the home may have water damage. It’s also the easiest and least expensive problem to fix. Gutters should extend beyond the house and lead water away from the foundation.
